    This does:
    http://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?p...rceId=1014407&articleCategory=NEWS_OTHER-NEWS

The director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport
Safety Robert Gifford, who was quoted in a referred article here the
other day, has been "interviewed" by MCN, after claiming that:
"Improving motorcyclists skills merely means they kill themselves in a
    more skilled way"

When put to proof he states that "Cars with ABS are involved in as
many accidents as cars that aren't." I'd love to see his figures for
    that ...

But when MCN suggest that ABS isn't a skill, but a mechanical
operation - he puts the phone down on the interviewer.

    Bloke's a ****, innhe?

Hmm. Did anyone think to ask him politely about the comparative statistics
for bikes with or without ABS? That would probably have had him doing
    panic-stricken goldfish impressions!

This same idiot was interviewed by the times, I quote:
How outrageous. Some biker apparently questioned this with him having
read the article and it is obvious he believes that riders undergo
improved training in order to ride faster. Personally if I took any
advanced training (my apathy prevents me from doing this), it would be
to improve my level of safety, I would see any speed increase as a
    secondary consequence.

I'd like to see if he had the same opinion of car drivers who take
    their advanced tests.

  4. Actually, that is probably the only reason I'd bother.

    Phil Wattis says...
As he serves on the National Steering Group of the Driver Improvement
    Scheme I doubt it.

    Andy Wegg says...
Thinking about it... If there were no "single vehicle crashes, usually on
corners" then I probably wouldn't bother having a bike.

I did advanced training in track days with guys who have raced Spanish and
World Championships (say, the Oliver-Bulto brothers, cousins of a certain
    Gibernau-Bulto). Results are:

    - I feel safer cos now I know how far the safety limit is in my daily
riding, and in case of emergency I have already tried the required things.

    - I am slower. If another track day is waiting, who needs to push to 200km/h
all the time? (eeer, ton plusing is enough :)

I read that too. Interesting how a bloke's comments get you all riled,
but those from a woman are brushed off as irrelevant...

I meant the poster of the comment, not the original comment.
    Sorry for confusion.
As for the arsehole who works for the gov't and hates bikes...what do
you think he'll do? Write laws based on his prejudices alone?
Why don't you write to him, instead of Ms Philips, then? And do
something for yourselves rather than just whine and bleat about how
    awful it all is?
