Luckily it was on the 20 y/o Black & Decker strimmer.

  2. 4.5 miles? Ouch. What was that 2-3 hours pushing?

Didn't fancy calling the RAC then?

    "Where are you"

"On a public right of way..."

  5. I blew the big end on my old lawnmower. Lovely hole in the crankcases
and hot oil on the grass.

Yep. My feet were the worst casualties. MX boots are not made for walking.
Even if there was a phone signal, nope.
Unfortunately not. I was 'exploring' the nether regions of the Qinetiq
    missile range.

Could have been worse. Times like this I'm glad I haven't got a big old
heavy 4-stroke. My main worry was getting captured by the range wardens
where I really, _really_ shouldn't have been.

Well, it's unlikely you'd have fucked a 4 stroke quite so badly.

You might get away with it if you're pushing an obviously very broken
bike, using the shortest route possible to get back to your trailer. As
with cops, there are good wardens, bad wardens & complete cunts.

This is true. I've only known 2 4-stroke bikes blow up or break down in all
the time I've been trailriding. It's always the strokers. On balance though,
I'll stay with the strokers. Far more fun, and besides, a crankshaft is
really only a service item anyway ;>)

Trailer? I wish! My trail bikes get ridden to the Plains etc. There have
been many trailer thefts over the years from the perimeter roads and
'carparks'. Lavington and Redhorn seem to be the thieves favourite targets.
We met a guy with a KTM next to his car (now less trailer) wondering how the
hell he was going to get the bike and car back home to Newbury!
Agreed about the range wardens though. There are some good guys and few real
    arseholes.

Hmm. Well I'd planned to take a KTM 200 there over the coming weeks.
I had thought the easiest thing to do would be to put it in the back
of the Hilux and then ride onto the plain. Maybe it would be best to
use one of the open laybys for parking.

I really don't fancy forty miles of 200cc road action on the way
there. But... I also don't fancy getting back to the Hilux and
    finding it not there...

Not like my 1989 KMX200 today then. Mains shagged, and took crank seal(s)
with them. Unfortunately about 4.5miles from nearest
track/trail/civilisation. It may be light, but in today's heat and in full
gear and MX boots, 4.5miles is a *fucking* long way.
    Bollocks.

I've left a trailer in the one off Port Way, SW of Bratton a few times
without any trouble. It's quite a busy carpark which helps.

Leave it down in Urchfont/Lavington/Easterton village. It's only 2 mins up
    to the plainss from there.
