Are you thinking I'm not serious or you just don't like animals?

  2. It depends on which council you are under in Tasmania I found out the
hard way. If we had been in Hobart we would have been fine. But
because the other side of the Derwent River was controlled by a
different council, they had different rules didn't they? Yay!
I was going on our lead guitarists advice. He was the Chief Engineer
of a radio station at the time and is now the state manager for Sony
Ericsson. He's got a pretty good idea of what would work I reckon. My
initial thoughts were that they would just compound each other, but
apparently he had some stunning plan in mind. The guy builds broadcast
radio transmitters from scratch so I was happy to go along with his
plan. We never got to try it though.

The real bitch was it was my fucking bass guitar that was the worst
culprit when we were doing tests. I thought the kick drum would have
been the nasty thing. I was running an 800W amp through dual 18 inch
drivers, but I didn't have it turned up flat out in that environment.
Christ, I had to stand in this small room inside the soundproofing. I
like my hearing and want to keep it thanks. That amp only got cranked
    in big venues.

    58dbA . . . I reckon I fart louder than that.

    it gets worse.
OK, I'll admit to enjoying a good steak tartar, but that's it, and I
don't class that as 'raw' anyway, as it sort of cooks from the onions
and stuff, like gravlax does from the citrus.

Cooked, you mean? But no, not really my bag, although I'll eat it at a
    push.

  9. I'm trying to imagine what cooked Carpaccio would be like. Pastrami I guess.
    Fair enough.

They could've made him de-bark the dog. I believe that lumbermen have a tool
specially for that job too, which he could've hired for pennies..

    In communiqué <>, Kevin
A lot depends on how the local limit defines how to measure 'ambient'
noise and where. You would need a pretty high SPL for the 10Hz tone to
get up to 58 dB(A) at the house next door to push up the ambient as
measured on a sound level meter, as the 'A' weighting knocks 70 dB off
at that frequency (assuming there isn't also a low pass cut off). Whilst
in theory even 130dB at 10Hz should be inaudible by a normal person, I
suspect the levels inside your garage needed to achieve that next door
might create some interesting resonance such that the game might be
given away. I suspect that if 'secret' background noise elevation was a
successful strategy it would have been used by now.

Without a doubt - if measuring close enough to your arse.

Quite. Whatever the man's crimes, I doubt very much whether this sentence
will survive an appeal (assuming a half competant lawyer). A recent case of
a cyclist who recieved points on his driving licence for a cycling offence
had the charges dropped on appeal.

A more appropriate sentence would have been re-homing for the dog with a
competant owner and a ban on future dog ownership.
    Exactly.

    Why were they dropped?

Seems to me that every time a cyclist is seen riding through pedestrians on
the pavement, ignoring red lights, riding at night without lights etc they
should be hauled up and treated exactly as if they were using a
    car/motorcycle at the time.

It may not be practical to introduce a driving licence for cyclists on the
road but they should have to wear a Tufty Club badge

If I had to bet on anyone else here having been in the TC and having the
badge it would, of course, have been you.

  20. We were only 1-2 dbA out. ie, from memory ambient was 52 and we were
58 and only allowed 5 above ambient. So we only had to push it by 1
fucking 1dB. 2 for safety. We probably could have just hoped for a
windy day for the measuring . . .
