    The BMW, that is.

    What a strange bike.

Sounds nice on the stainless pipes, minus collector box.

Torque reaction is amusing and gives some brown trouser moments until
you adopt your riding to take it into account.

Rear drum brake is as useless as they all are.

Very happy with it and quite tempted to fit a radio / cassette, as per
the limited edition LT version, but can't find the bits anywhere.

(There's a very cheap R1100RT head unit on ebay at the moment, which
could be adopted to suit, but speaker pods are still an issue)

I haven't had a problem with torque reaction but I have had an XS850 in the
past so maybe the adaption was already there. But I do find the RT very
front heavy. It is quite flickable if you have the confidence and forearms
like popeye. And white lining is still disconcerting sometimes - especially
    in the wet :(

Definitely a 'strange beast' though. Still not sure if I actually like it
    ....

Nor do I that I know of but maybe it's one of those things that are
more noticeable when you push the thing hard?
Hmm, I think it feels light but that may be down to what you mention
below re flickability and white lining.
I have the Mich Macadam's on mine and not had anything else to know if
they are better or worse than anything else. I do know we have ridden
round Scotland, two up, full touring cases and towing a loaded trailer
and it was ok (few moments you could put down to tyres as such).

I did lose 2" of rear brake travel down a hill in the Peak District
    though. ;-(
I didn't realise how much I liked mine (91 Mono) till I rode the 900
Divi. I already knew I didn't want a sports bike nor a cruiser (after
riding my mates Harley and Her XV750).

I think the 3 bikes that have given me the best grins so far have been
my XT350, REB 350 and the RT (all for different reasons, the latter
also being my most unreliable considering it has still only done 35k
    miles).

The CB Two Fifty has done 65K+ and still buzzes along nicely and 75
mpg also makes me grin. ;-)

    Cheers, T i m

  4. I never found it an issue when riding. You notice it when you blip the
    throttle at a standstill.

One thing you *do not do* is take a hump-back bridge "enthusiastically".

I did that, once, on an R65LS with The Doctor on board, and she's never
    forgotten it. Nor have I.

Yes, there was an LT which came with some extra goodies - like a radio /
    cassette and K-type top box.

Don't know if we got it in the UK, though.

What I'd love to find is a pair of the pop-out driving lights which fit
    into the air vents, though.

Appears they were badged as an 'R100RT Classic' in the UK.

    Collect or UR from Cheltenham?

Need some love, paint and part wiring, but should do the trick

Ah, OK. Didn't realise it had a radio through.

    Wouldn't bother with one myself.

    Lol!

    I can't believe you have a set.

Wiring isn't an issue - but do they have the lever etc to pop them in
    and out?

It's just tempting to fit one if the bits turn up on eBay - just need
the cradle and speaker pods, really - as I'd install a cheapie Aldi /
Lidl head unit with MP3 player.

I think most of the bracketry's there. I'll pop up in the loft again
tomorrow and have a better look.

Will collect, as it's an excuse to take one of the bikes for a run.

Not forgetting (as my sig used to say when I had one) to substitute .com
where it says .co.uk in the newsgroup headers.
