Got to get to Stourbridge nr Birmingham early Monday morning, leaving essex
at 0530. Micro$haft Autoroute says M1/M6/A--- but my mate at work swears
I'll hit less traffic if i take the M1/M45/A---. Anyone know which'd be
the best route and if there's any roadworks/speedtraps etc.

    TIA Chris

May even be better to fight over to the M40 then M42 hop onto M5 off at
first junction and an easy nip into Stourbridge (where I live).

If you must go M1, M45 A45 look out for the million speed cameras on the A45
nr the airport. Also beware the same number (if not more) on the A4123 from
j2 M5 towards Dudley and then Stourbridge.

The M6 is shit at the best of times and from my neck of the woods I would
NEVER use the M6 or M1 to head your way.

    M40/M42/M5 - Putting this into M$ A'Route comes up as 177miles, 2hrs 40
mins. Looks like the one I'll be going for!

    Thanks again for looking

I'd go M1-M45-A45 etc. There are cameras at Coventry on the A45 outside
the Peugeot car works, they are head-on type. M45 is particularly empty
    in the mornings.

I'd strongly recommend coming up the M40 instead if thats an option from
your start point? That way you could just follow it to the end then get on
    the M42.

If you do have to go up the M1 there are plenty of roadworks on the M6 where
it meets the M42 and its shite slow all across the top of Birmingham to the
    M5.

The M45 will be a lot clearer (deserted with no cameras) but you then have
to follow the A45 for a while which has cameras aplenty. Best bet is to turn
left onto the A46 just after baggington airfield and head down to the M40.
Follow the M40 onto the 42 then onto the M5 and get off at the first
junction. Follow the A449 (and signs) to stourbridge but beware the camera
van on the 50mph bits of the 449.

What brings you to this part of the world anyway?
