    "Bear"
That would be very funny if it wasn't at least partially true

I do find it already worrisome that prisons are run privately.

Nope, they were actually official policemen in the GDR.

Well yer options are simple: either you stay and fight the bastards who
are spoiling this green and pleasant land or you **** off and hide
somewhere else and wait until they come for you there. Choice is yours.

  6. I also find the current trend for making a profit from basic essentials
repugnant too. If I receive any more phone calls from any utility company
offering to undercut their rivals I'll scream![1] I'm totally pissed off
    with utility suppliers/insurers offering
electricity/gas/insurance/telecoms/finance etc - they should sticl to what
    they know best.

[1] Our office[2] has had multiple calls from British Gas and others
offering us cheaper energy - trouble is its fully serviced.
[2] Just me and a colleague who's nearly always out, so I end up answering
    the phone.

  7. Woah. It can't be can it, the gumbmint says so. See "Speed Kills", and
    "Think of the children"
Drunk driving is *much* safer than speeding, why else would there be all the
scameras around the place rather than highly trained police officers?

I've had advanced observed doughnut eating on Brighton pier, with extra
filling training care of Asda, and technical doughnut topping 1 and 2,
thanks to my fat mate Robin.

NTL, and funny enough, I find it even worse if these places are then run
by foreign companies with no or reduced jurisdiction under British law
    and quite often offshore registered.

I fucked off somewhere else (Italy) the government is no better there,
and yet things are /so much/ better.

This country blows goats with rising crime, diverted resources, a
fucked road and rail transport system, gatso ridden roads, miserable
weather, a lying government that goes against the wishes of the
majority [1] and have no intention of ever holding referendums to find
    out the wishes thereof [2]

    Bollocks to it.

Um, everyone has power of arrest don't they?

Now, actually achieving restraint is a different matter - "oi, you're
    assaulting me! Call the Police!"

So, what's to stop me getting an /even/ smaller numberplate, riding like a
bigger twat than usual and flicking the vees to any ersatz cop that dains
    to attempt to tug me?

Seriously, if I decide to **** off, what they going to do?

It's a damn shame I'm not commuting between Bedford and Slough down the
M25 on my ZZR any more. It could have been lots of fun winding the
    'wannabe-cops' up every day.

I dare say I could have had some sport with them on my CB250RS as well.

    [about rent-a-cop]
What power will they have? What will they have visible to convince Joe
Public that he has to stop? Some people have trouble stopping for you
guys, if they sees Group 4 or whatever behind them flashing their
headlamps they're likely to give 'em the finger and bugger off. It
would all seem a bit sureal.

Can I place a copyright notice on the back of my bike so that any
photos taken of it would be taken illegally and therefore not
admissable as evidence? (seriously, we've been discussing this at work
    today).

Isn't that the right of every citizen anyway? It was the last time I
looked up the law on "arrest".
