I'm just off to France for the weekend, boat at 5pm, and I'm hearing
terrible stories about the M20 being totally fucked and delays of 3 hrs. Has
anyone been down there in the last few days ? I'm meeting a couple of mates
who are coming from Swindon at Maidstone services and wonder how much time
    to add to the journey.

SeaFrance, innit. Apparently, they had a 24-hour strike ... which
began last Wednesday. Radio 2 traffic news always mentions Operation
Stack and because of this, the truckers are using the Chunnel and
    that's causing delays there too.

    Best of British.

You'll be posting to here using your mobile to tell us how cold it is
    in your car at 2am.

If they're using Stack then the M20 will be one giant lorry park and all
other traffic will be leaving the M20 at Maidstone and heading toward
the M2. Easier to just take the M2 in the first place and go
cross-country for the last bit in do dover.

What's the Windows mobile client of choice for doing this?

Personally I wouldn't have the faintest idea. I've never really
considered posting to here from my phone but others who do will
    shortly be along to advise.

The answer is: Arrive at 16.20 for a 17.00 crossing, the M20 bit was
OK, diverted off at Maidstone services for one junction. We were told
that the 17.00 crossing had become 18.40 as a consequence of the Sea
France strike, eventually get away at 21.00. I can't see why the Sea
france strike has such an effect on P and O boats, surley the turn
around in port is bases on full capacity so even if they are full it
shoudn't make any difference, the only reason I can see is that there
are 4 or 5 Seafrance boats parked up at Calais blocking up the berths
    causing delays in berthing.
