M1 Speed Camera and MK Vehicle Inspectorate

Went to drop of the shite old 75 at my tame mechanic's in Markyate
earlier, and spotted a 'Talivan' speed camera on a bridge over the M1.

This morning it was on a bridge just before Toddington Services going
    northbound on the M1.

On top of that, I was pulled in by traffic plod on Secklow Gate in
central MK for a Vehicle Inspectorate Emissions Test.

They're not only measuring emissions, but also having a good crawl
around the cars / bikes at the same time.

Seems they're only pulling pre-cat (around 1992) cars (very strange, as
cat-equipped cars are more likely to fail a roadside test, IMHO), and
had stopped a couple of cars from driving off...... including an
absolutely immaculate MGB-GT (they were ripping it to bits, emptied the
    boot, bonnet up etc).

Fortunately, Katie's cage is in pretty good condition, with 4 new tyres
and a good exhaust - so all they found was a non-working side repeater.

You have been warned - if you're in MK today, I'd avoid Secklow Gate if
you're driving / riding anything more than a few years old.

You're not allowed to call them Vehicle Inspectorate any more, they
have a trendy new name now...VOSA!

    Wizard wibbled incoherently...
Beds Police have a Transit with ANPR slapped down the side. To be found
some mornings on Bedford bypass in the dip just before the A6 junction
    when heading west.

When I saw it there were a couple of blokes stood next to a camera on a
    tripod next to it.

Absolutely pointless, as the traffic flow was such that you couldn't do
    more than 80mph (indicated) anyway.

What pissed me off much more was the 'emissions check' in CMK.
Especially as they seemed to be picking on 'soft' targets.

Still, I was confident they wouldn't find anything wrong. I might drive
shite old cars, but they're well-maintainted shited old cars.

    That'll be the one, then.

It was a new-shape Transit, but I didn't see ANPR on the side of it.
