I'm thinking about signing up for a M/C magazine subscr-
iption, again. I've had many such subscriptions in the past,
mostly of the Cycle World variety, but others also.

However, I no longer want any postal delivery, just web
access. My interests would probably be cruiser/sport,
and sport touring type bikes. Actually all bikes other than
dirt, and typical bike testing/comparison type articles.

Right now, my remedial choices are CW & MCN. CW
seems to offer an online subscription, where MCN does
not. MCN claims advertising free. while I know CW is
packed with advertising. MCN claims to not be biased
by advertising. I guess I'm not smart enough to know if
advertising will bias these publications. But, it wouldn't
come as a huge surprise to me.

Any tips/suggestions here on a reading you favor/enjoy,
    and respect?

    Thanks,

    Gary

  2. MCN is the only one that i've kept a subscription to for over 20 years
and have my back catalog stored. i've never regretted it and have many
times been absolutely saved by the magazine when looking for something
arcane and been able to find it in MCN.

advertising does beget slants in articles and features, it's the way the
bulk of the magazine industry works. MCN has its own viewpoints, but at
least they are honestly that of the author and not bought and paid for
    opinions.

Thanks AV, that seems a glowing testimonial. However...
does "my back catalog stored" mean that you either have
web access to archived issues, or have those issues saved
    locally, for a look-back reference.

Based on your comments, it seems I'm wrong, and MCN
does offer a full view web subscription.

    Thanks,

    Gary

  4. they are physically filed away by year in binders and then in boxes.

it's pretty interesting to read the really old issues and see how things
overall progressed over the years and what things succeeded from their
introduction and what flopped. it's great when you can think of the
product but can't remember who made it or want to do some modifications
tweaks to whatever and you can track it down in back issues.

    er, ummmm,.....
they do have a web presence, but i don't think it's new issues on line
and i don't know how far back they go archive wise. can't say i've been
to their site any time in the past 6 months, so i really can't tell you
one way or the other about that aspect. go check it out.

besides, it's hard to read online when yer in the crapper and i have the
current years worth of MCN on top of the porceline bookcase. <g>
