Most pleasant it was, with a few exhillerating bits [1]. Gone a bit overcast now though, seems I got my timing just right. [1] Locked up the back wheel due to completely arsing up a roundabout. The other bike I braked to miss was surely thinking "****" as he rode past, with some justification too. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
I took the Wing shopping today, for the first time in 3 months. It was good to be back, except: a: holding a constant throttle with slippery grips means you slow down. b: that pedal brake's still not right - it stops okay, but the pedal's nearly on the floor by then.[1] c: the new chrome switch block's cracked already. I sense an appointment with the bin, tbh. Still, it was nice to be back in the saddle, and the handling's definitely improved beyond recognition. i.e. it's now rubbish. [1] Mityvaccing the front did a power of good, but you can't get at the rear caliper without taking the pannier off - top work, Soichiro. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..73066../..17485.../..3184./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 IbB#4 '^'
Not Good (why's it slippery?) I was surprised to be able to lock up the back brake today, sort of renewed my faith in it (brake fettling is fairly high on the agenda, as are new tyres). Hmm, disappointing when new gadgets don't work isn't it. My impressive new oil temp gauge only ever reads a maximum of 60°C, which I rather suspect should be nearer 80°C. Indeed. I somehow feel cheated if I don't get the bike out each weekend. <snip> -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
I was about to say: "Same on the Trophy" and then I realised that Wing panniers aren't QD, are they?[/QUOTE] No. Six screws, four bolts, two loom connector blocks, one pannier lid release cable, and Bob's your uncle. That's for the left one. Yep , not too bad a day at all. Did cost me 30 quid for a new battery as the one on the Thundercat had finally gone from "Must get round to replacing that in a month or so" to "totally fucked" at some point over the last couple of months. There were a lot of fairly slow looking bikes out on the road today , me included [1] for the first 50 miles , but I did start to get back into the swing of things after a while. A few "interesting" moments as I found wet bits of tarmac mid corner , but I had fun and made it back in one piece which was my aim. I think the brakes could do with stripping , cleaning and reassembling so I'll be ordering several new sets of pads soon though [1] My riding being rustier than a rusty thing on a rusty day. -- Alex Hermes: "We can't afford that! Funny how just a few miles down the road it was the opposite - started dreary and horrid then cleared into a nice late morning. Took the bike out for the first time since late October - seeing as I've been driving a (slow) car around for 4 weeks I nearly crashed into the kerb at the end of my road - not a great start These bikes accelerate fast don't they... bit of road where car just gets to 70, bike had 120 on the clock )) Quite glad I didn't do a FOT TBH though as I do think i would have put the bike in a hedge. 'Highlight' being the B4009 where it's been covered in little mud 'clods' - these cause both wheels to behave independantly of each other and contribute additional brown 'clods' to the environment. Still, bloody nice 50 odd mile ride that reminded me why I was so reluctant to sell it.
but you can't get at From what I remember you can pivot the entire tail end complete from the mounts at the front end of the frame that carries the panniers and topbox after slackening the front bolts. Only remember to undo the couple of wiring multi-blocks before and it al pivots upward exposing the entire rear wheel and calliper etc. Close investigation and some deduction should give you an idea of how it pivots. -- -- Robbo Trophy 1200 1998 "Fairly Quick" status. Yes, I know all that, but, and it's a big but: When it got slung down the road a few years back, it knocked the lhs pannier frame slightly out of kilter. Consequently, when you go to pivot it all back down again, the bolt doesn't automagically line up with the hole. As the only way to get at said bolt is through the 20mm diameter hole in the pannier, it's all a bit awkward. Not only that, but one false move, and I'll be minus two fingers. Also, the above method leaves the silencers dangling in the breeze. It's only 10 minutes off, and 10 back on - no great hardship. I've got chapter and verse on it, never you mind. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..73066../..17485.../..3184./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 IbB#4 '^'
