  1. And the new Gixxer, but not the majority of bikes.

    (We're talking of catalytic converters.)

Having a O2 sensor fitted doesn't mean it'll have a cat. It just means
it's fitted with both a closed loop and open loop management system.

  6. Nobody said "majority". SteveH said "large proportion". And he was
    right.

Aye, something I wasn't aware of I must admit. Mind you, the cats on
bikes are very limited in their capacity compared to cars.

FWIW, I think cats are a total load of crap, it's actually possible to
make an engine run cleaner without a cat.

The trouble with bikes is that 'a large proportion (tm)' of them are
sports bikes, and as such are tuned up very much more than the majority
of cars. If the average bike was tuned relative to an average car, they
    would be significantly cleaner.

  8. SteveH said "most", which is synonymous with the "majority of".
There seem to be more new bikes with cats than I thought
but that doesn't stop it being a dumb idea....

"most" would technically mean anything greater than 50%. Which seems to
    be the case.

  10. I suspect that 'most new' is incorrect atm.

Is this due to some new legislation?
    The end of carburettors?
Will we get emission tests in the MOT?
At least it will make it very simple to get an extra 10%
on power by removing the cat and remapping.

I'm glad I have an SOB with carbs.

  11. It is - small bikes don't have 'em. They seem confined to 750cc and
    above (except for the F650).
    Yes. Euro Five.
    Me too!
