Loud pipes piss off most people

The old saying that "Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose
begins" applies here. Ever heard of "disturbing the peace"? That is
what you get charged with if you make too much noise in the city and
enough neighbors complain. Nice try, though...

This is a motorcycle news group. In other words, I ride, and I don't
mind other riders that are reasonable, kind and considerate. Self
centered assholes are something else entirely.

If you were my neighbor and I had the habit of blazing around on my
property with an unmuffled 4x4 at all hours of the day and night,
within 50-100' of your house, I suspect that your "oh so tolerant"
attitude would go right out the window. This is exactly what happened
in my town. It wasn't just one incident between two neighbors. It was
an ongoing issue between between quite a few different families and a
whole lot of their neighbors. Reasonable requests from the neighbors to
tone it down were met with the same "It's my property, I'll do whatever
I like, whenever I like, go **** yourself" that you seem to think is
just fine. As it works out, the neighbors managed to get some fairly
draconian noise regs passed. Score = Neighbors 1, assholes 0

If the assholes had been even slightly considerate of the neighbors,
IE, no riding before 7:00am, no riding after 8:00pm, no excessively
loud exhaust systems, etc, likely there wouldn't have been a problem.
Basic consideration of others is a core value that seems to fallen out
of fashion. Too bad the assholes never learned that one. Or at least
they are learning it the hard way.

I like riding dirt bikes. Now and then I get to ride a friends.

I wasn't part of the group that pushed the noise regs through. I have
pleasant and considerate neighbors. We watch each others animals when
we go on vacation. We keep an eye on each others property when folks
are out of town. We help each other out as needed. My neighbor that
builds race cars doesn't start them up at 2:30 in the morning and drive
them around. He waits until a reasonable hour, unless he has to be at a
race. He'll call around and pass the word if he is likely to need to
test late at night. He also gives beer and wine away to make up for
disturbing us. Nice guy. No one has a problem with his occasional
testing. He isn't an arrogant prick.

I am sure that the dusty hellhole that is west texas has wide open
ranches where you can go for miles on your own land and not bother
anyone. In my town the properties range from 1/2 acre to 10 or so
acres. Most are 2-5 acres. Far enough apart for reasonable people to be
    able coexist just fine.

You have my sincere sympathy that you live in west texas. It must
really suck. So bad that you have to read San Francisco Bay Area
motorcycle newsgroups and dream that you could live here.

Heh. If s/he lives long enough, that will happen anyway-- assuming it
doesn't already. S/he will be immune to the irony, although everyone who
knows him/her will recognize it instantly and probably laugh about it
    outside of his/her presence.

People like that cannot see beyond their pride of the moment. It is
their chief attractive quality as well as their ultimate weakness. Only
a few so afflicted overcome it before succumbing. Unfortunately, it
often most adversely affects the offspring.

Don't patronize me, bitch. The above quote reveals only that you missed
the entire point of my post. But whatever, dude. Sieg Heil! ORDER! Vee
    Mussst haff ORDER!
The worst parts of Texas are better that the best parts of Cali. Your
totlitarian attitude is evidence of that.

And just so you'll know, I hopped over here from Reeky to see what you
locals had posted about USGP weekend. Instead I found myself reading
your nonsense. My mistake, I assure you.

Actually, it's a good insight. Read it again.

Once again, I am very happy that I don't have an asshole like you for a
    neighbor.

The Texas school system does an excellent job in brainwashing people
into believing that Texas is a great place. Sometimes when the victims
get away, they realize that they were sold a bill of goods. Other
times, they never get over it.

I have been to Texas. I spent enough time in what was supposed to be
the best area of Texas (the greater Austin area) to realize that I am
damn glad I didn't live there. I have a cousin that was transferred to
El Paso. He hates it there. I have driven though Texas three times. As
far as I am concerned, Texas is more or less the anus of the USA. The
natives seem to delight in their ignorance. You haven't done anything
    to make me think differently.

Loud pipes lose rights. That is reality, even if you don't like it.
