Loud Exhaust on Guzzi - Help please.

My baby Guzzi (V50II) is so noisy in the exhaust department that I am
ashamed to wake up the whole suburb just to take it for a run.
There is no way that I can afford a new pair of mufflers at this point - has
anyone ideas on how to modify the existing exhausts to hush them up ?
One day when I'm rich and famous I will have a stainless two into one system
made and hang a good muffler off it, but until then I'll have to work with
    what I've got.

Yes, I know it's going the other way - when I was much younger we would rip
the guts out of the exhausts and revel in the note as we blasted through the
    English countryside.
Well, I was one of the lucky ones - lasted long enough to grow up and now
consider others, noise pollution and all that stuff.... (grow up ? well,
    grow old more like it...)

well you could have a baffle out into the end like a staintune that is
    removable

depending on how the pipe is constructed you could take it apart and repack

any pics of the pipes and where are you could help with places to visit

If you are in Sydney nor nearby, then Crash Test Engineering are worth a
    try.

They have various ways to quieten pipes, and the noise testing kit and
CAN kit if you need them labelled.

    Good clue - thanks.
Looked hard at the rusty end and found three rusty nuts - will work on them
this weekend and see if it all comes apart.
Now if it does dis-assemble - what packing is used to quieten 'em ?
Glass wool from the roof insulation ?
Will work on the pictures but don't have a web site yet.
Am in North Fitzroy (Melb, inner suburb).
Thanks for the all important clue,
    RexT.

Maybe telling people where you are might help find you a cure.

Ring them, ask them what options, ask them who in Melbourne does this
    sort of thing.
