  1. Anyone know of songs inspired by Tolkien?

All I have so far is Ramble On by Led Zeppelin
    and Galadriel by Wishbone Ash
but I am stuck in the '70s.

That would make a perfect Sun article header!

But, it's definitely Quo to a tee.

Misty Mountain Hop by Led Zeppelin.
The Battle For Evermore by Led Zeppelin (thought by some to be an allegory
of the Battle of the Pelennor Fields).

Rivendell by Rush (on the Fly By Night album).

The German metal band Blind Guardian
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_Guardian) released a concept album in
    1998, Nightfall in Middle-Earth
    (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightfall_in_Middle-Earth), based on the
    Silmarillion.

    only sad old hippy shite.

Saw RotK yesterday - what a load of maudlin poorly-plot-arched
    over-sentimental bollocks.

no - too long and none of the she-elves got their tits out.

I quite liked the dancing elephants, though.

Isn't that always the measure of a good film. I believe Citizen Kane fell at
    a similar hurdle.

<heavy sarcasm> Oh, great. I'm off to see it this afternoon. Joy.

And, on the subject of crap films, I sat and watched "The Bone
Colllector" on BBC1 last night. What a load of predicatble derivative
shite! It really was a "serial killer" by numbers movie.

Just goes to show how to earn money if you're prepared to stoop low
    enough!
Strangley enough I was listening to R2 last night, while in the bath,
and they were playing an operatic version of Whatever You Want.
