I am asking this in case someone would know.My Son was running His KX65
at the track Sat when it popped and quite running.I worked on it and
found that a reed petal is missing.I fixed it but I cannot find the old
reed.Does anybody know if this can further damage the engine or will it
    be sent out the exhaust?

    Dino asks:
If you removed the cylinder and didn't find the broken reed,
it already passed through the engine and is gone. If you didn't
remove the cylinder looking for the reed, you probably should.

Inlet reeds are made of a fibre and are destroyed when passing through
    the engine.

Some are. Some are stainless steel. KX65 depending on year
and modifications could be either, I don't know.

And the fiber ones aren't too good for the motor either,
especially if a hunk is stuck in a transfer port.

To follow up,I pulled the top end and found part of a petal that I think
might have passed through if I had continued to run the bike.I was using
a Vforce3 reed that was only 3 months old.The plastic part that holds
the reed petal had ripped off destroying the cage.I am not at all
pleased with the vforce as they are touted as the best in the
industry, and this one was destroyed by a 10 year old riding fairly easy.
My concern will be answered as I have replaced the vforce3 with a new
one in the KX65 and have also been running a vforce in the KX85.I will
use the replacement as a spare as needed.
