    T'wouldn't be my choice of road bike either. A folly, maybe, but
    it was an innovative machine and a brave attempt to find a new
    niche market at a time when the final remnant of the once great
    British motorcycle industry was dying of complacency. The
    "Hondamatic" failed commercially because riders of larger bikes
    put performance first, whereas those who wanted automatic
    convenience were happy enough with the low-powered putt-putts
    already available. However they *did* try, which in itself is a
    credit to the company and earns the model it's small place in
    history.

    This concours condition example sold for just £723. If mothballed
    for 20 years it will outperform your pension as an investment.
    Had it been the CB750 version in the same condition I'd have
    bought it myself. Bikes like this need to be preserved if only
    for the sceptics to take the piss in years to come.
