That sounds like a good buy, I'd have it if I was in the market for one.

You can get a 1.8 Athlon for that money now.

    Stonking good ABS system too.
Do these later FJ's have better size wheels though?

Indeed, or Macs come to that.

However, I didn't buy it to worrying about residual value, and I happen
to like Macs. It was a case of being able to buy it now, and I might not
next year. So I got one that'll do me for many years.

Hmmm, perhaps, although there seems to be a big enough list of common
faults, and things to watch for. OTOH, most of those are well past 100k
    miles.
ISTR you are speaking from bitter experience.
Yes, that's what I was thinking of.

They did in the eighties. Indeed PCs were the *only* platform that
weren't supplied as a complete system.
But there is a choice, you don't even have to use Windows or Mac OS if
    you don't want to.
I wouldn't have any problem with that.

    I am tempted by the MT500 ;-)

On a serious note, what about the Transalp as a possibility?

Hadn't thought of that one. Certainly a possibility. I hadn't considered
a Yamaha, since my Diversion fell to bits after a couple of winters use.

I'm not sure it's a case of better, but it depends upon what purpose
    they're used for.

Macs are great for design, graphics and creating articles, reports,
etc, IMO. PC's are more mainstream.

When I dispatched, most of the 'arty' places I went to, used Macs. Ask
people like TOG, why he uses a Mac.

It's like comparing Windows and Linux. Both have their places in the
OS world. Same goes for Macs and PC's.

Ahhh, so Adobe applications on a Mac are better, yes? No doubt they're
as stable as, say, Win 2K and much more cost effective?

  19. Had my FJ12 abs since 96 and apart from consumables only had:

    One duff battery.
France on a TOG run to the BOL at Paul Ricard.
    French price £80.

I have replaced the fork springs 'cause they were a bit soft and did the
seals at the same time etc.

Rebuilt the ABS for £3 instead of Mr Yamaha's £1,200 (approx) the
owner's group do a good price exchange unit. They are worth joining IMO.

    Mac.
