I for one really like the new smoking laws, it means I wont come home
stinking of smoke after a gig. It also means that my voice with last all
night.

 

If you like *all* the new smoking laws, you must be insane. E.g. my
better half won't be able to smoke in her van anymore because it's a
company vehicle which is occasionally used by one of her employees. She
will of course ignore that law, technically becoming a criminal in the
process, along with thousands of other people no doubt.

I'd love to know how they plan to police this. Is anyone seen smoking
in a sign-written vehicle going to be pulled over & questioned? It's
absurd.

Personally I think that smoking while driving should be banned anyway.
It's every bit as much a distraction as mobile phones, and has added
issues with ash (look down at the ashtray or make sure the window's
open just the right amount and stick it out) and butt (throw it out
the window into the face of following motorcyclists) disposal.

As a long-time [1] smoker I've never understood why people feel the
need to do this anyway.
