Long way down starts screening on BBC this Sunday. For those with
broadband who are interested torrents should be appearing on Mondays I
    guess.

No, thats Long Way Round, their original London to New York trip.

I don't think Long Way Down will be seen here until a lot more
merchandise is sold overseas, or the price comes down far enough for
    Aus TV to afford it.

  6. Either that, or someone got the idea for what to call the show when
they leant out of the open rear door of one of the support helicopters
    and looked at the ground...

....when they do this with nothing but what they and their cameraman
can strap to the bikes, I'll start being impressed.

You show me the most hard core round the world motorcycle rider going
solo on a 75yo beemer and there's an even harder core bloke on a bicycle
who's already done the trip... but even he doesn't impress me.. because
in the 1970s some kunst from USA walked a 23,000km circumambulation of
the globe.. but he only got shot once, and he had a support donkey to
carry all his shit. What a soft cock!

That's not what it's about. It's not a big dick contest between RTW
riders. It's a travel program with blokes falling off bikes. Didn't
you watch Long Way Round? The landscapes they rode through were
awesome. You don't see see the Mongolian plains or the Siberian Road of
    Bones on Getaway.

Gotta say I agree about the background and I was mightily impressed by
    the photography per se.
There were lots of bad things (and good ones too) about the
production. On the whole I thought it was well worth a look.

  9. No, but you see them both on National Geographic plenty often enough,
in productions where the central premise wasn't that venturing out
there, even without a support convoy, is a colossal test of upper-lip
stiffness. When travelling with the sort of backup they had, it's
    not...

You don't see see the Mongolian plains or the Siberian Road of Bones on Getaway.

only cause they dont get free accomodation and the trip would be sub
$40,000 per head.. THEN it would be on getaway.

[shrug] There's ****-all else motorcycle-related on mainstream TV.
(and it certainly got me planning my retirement and looking at R1150GSA's in
    a different light)

They should have left the bikes home and taken a Hummer. The scenery would
have been just as good and we wouldn't have all that "Aren't we heroes
because we're doing this on bikes" crap.
