Oh yes, I remember now. Those wheels.

Alsace wines are a bit odd, price-wise, in that there just aren't any
cheap ones. Even most of the still whites generally start at about six
Eu a bottle. Our normal 'slurping' Crémant is about Eu7.95, IIRC.

    <googles>

Oh, actually 7.30 from the producer:
    http://www.wolfberger.com/Fr/pagesFrStatiques/pagesBoutique/b2-milieuC.html
Their 'Prestige' one is probably the best of the bunch, but is more
difficult to find in the supermarkets. I can feel a trip to the
    vineyard shop coming on...

Not the first UKRMer to mention it... and not the last time I'll say it
is not the best road in the region :)

OI! That's a fucking bordeaux - proper Crémant comes from Alsace. It's
as different as Cava is from Champagne.

Oh. Well I know they're normal in car FI systems, and have been for
donkey's years, so I assumed they were also fitted to bikes, or at
least those with half-decent systems. Although if they weren't
universal it might explain why some FI bikes, like hondas, still have
    "choke" levers, I suppose.

I've tried that and it's a nightmare getting going. Once moving it wasn't
too bad, but requires much co-ordination from both riders. It's just not
    something that's practiced.

  9. No - but they do have fuel richness sensors and a limited ability to
    adjust on the fly.

Oddly the ZRX seemed to work ok. slightly bogged down, but not much.
Maybe the fact it's a lower state of tune helps.

The best trip for me was riding on those twisty nadgery roads up through
that foresty bit last year with you, Black Mike and Champ, where the ZRX
actually got better on the bumpy bits. Then again when the road ran
out, just because it was funny.

    Heh. Mine's done...

<pops downstairs to check - finds key left in ignition>

18000 km. So more than yours, but less than Champ's. Any way, mine's
_newer_, which is also a factor which should be largely not so
relevant, but which is used as the major factor in setting a proce.

I mean, notwithstanding that there was a model change between yours
and mine, why should my cosmetically-challenged 03 plate be worth
significantly more than Neil's shiny nice looking 01 bike? Or yours,
for that matter, except yours is non-standard, isn't it?

Really? Wow. This is the bit where we'd done 20km on resurfaced roads
that were just loose gravel, then I nearly got taken out by an
oncoming hardly on my side of the road, then the last 500yards were
    just mud and rock, right?

And then I proceeded to follow along _way_ behind you lot all the way
down to proper road surfaces. You thought the fact that I was two or
three minutes behind you was because I was _tired_? FFS.

No, I knew you hated that bit.. *I* hated that bit too. Except where
the road finally ran out, because then it became laughable.
No, I'm thinking about an hour before that.. there was a really twisty
uphill bit, through some kind of wooded forest. Of course, I could be
    merging memories from several days.

It takes a hell of a lot of abuse and neglect to make a bike look bad
nowadays. The old 9R had high mileage and wasn't the cleanest or tidiest
bike when I bought it, but with almost minimal effort it came up to
remarkably good condition. My Bandit on the other hand is a shed because
it really hasn't had much in the way of care and attention throughout
most of its life, but that makes it an ideal buy for me as a hack, so
    all's well.

Champ would be the first to admit that he's not a great fan of washing
his bikes, but they always seem to be in decent condition despite the
mileage. He is good about servicing and if the bike needs something
repairing or replacing then it gets done. Too many bikes have little
odds and sods that get left to ruin larger more important assemblies
because the owners are clueless, and that's where the problems start.
