In central London, (Westminster zone - Poland Street) I just got a
ticket for parking my scooter on an area just next to a building with
the little glass boxes on the floor.

I was under the impression that these "glass box areas" (found between
the pavement and buildings) were private property and therefore not
    ticketable offences?

Has anyone appealed a ticket on these grounds and has it been
    successful?

The PCN I have just says "code 622 parked with one or more wheels on
any part of an urban road other than a carriageway"

Thanks for any insights, I will share any useful ones i get

  2. Yes. Get yourself a piece of wood and while your bike / scooter is on
it's centre stand, chock the other wheel up so there are no wheels on
the ground. Take a photo as evidence.
    See above.

Westminster are a bit fanatical about this type of parking. Have you ever
wondered why all the other bikes have covers over their numberplates?

  4. I've done it and it works[1] I used wood because that's all I could
find. A polystyrene brick would be ideal.

[1] At, I think, the same place as the OP - the corner of Poland and Gt.
Marlborough. There is a bike bay opposite but that's a technicality.[2]

[2] When I say it works, I mean I was gone for about 40 minutes and no
    ticket.

Westminster Council collects more revenue from parking tickets than
    council tax. Grim.

    Have you ever
Apparently, following the decriminalisation of parking offences, the
traffic wardens are civilians and can't monkey around with your
property. My bike sits on-street without a parking permit but with a
cover, and no tickets yet. It must hurt their cold little hearts not to
be allowed to remove the covers from peoples' numberplates.

Find out if your bike was on a piece of the property owned by the
company... If so, no valid ticket... HTH...

They were rhetorical questions but it was nice to have someone answer them
    anyway:)

I manage to park on the pavement within about 10 yards of Westminster every
weekday with my numberplate on show and haven't had a ticket yet[1].

    1. Hello Miss Fate can I tempt you again.

I'm sure the parking charge levied by the company will be reasonable ;)
