Have to be in the office in London for a meeting next month.

Due to other commitments, I won't be able to take the bike - so it looks
    like I'm driving in.

Is leaving the Holiday Inn at Kensington and driving to Chancery Lane
going to be a whole new world of pain for me? - or has the congestion
charge pretty cut out the worst of the traffic? - I'll probably be
    leaving at around 7am.

(Last time I drove in, I stayed at a hotel near Euston station and it
took less than 15 mins to drive in)

  2. At that hour it shouldn't be too bad, actually.

Forget the Piccadilly Underpass: it'll be chocka from the other side
    down to the Circus.

Head round Hyde Park Corner, Constitution Hill down to Buck House, The
Mall down to Trafalgar Square, round the Square, into the Strand, keep
going round the Aldwych, Fleet Street, left into Chancery Lane, and I
assume you've got parking arranged there because if not, you'll be
better off leaving the car at the hotel and taking the Tube.

Don't forget the congestion charge payment.

Don't even bother trying to drive to Chancery Lane unless you want to
find out just *how* expensive parking is in the City.

Do what everybody else does and take the Tube if you can't bike it. And
no, the congestion charge hasn't really had that much of an impact on
the traffic apart from raising money.

Are you mad? For such a simple journey, I'd take the tube.

Remembering who Steve works for, his London office is a short walk from
Chancery Lane tube anyway, nearer Farringdon. Circle line from Gloucester
    Road to Farringdon. Job done.

Let me know when. I might need another excuse to hit the Jerusalem.

Can't you leave the car at home and take a train?

    I would.

Thanks for that.... this is one of the few times I can be smug about
    driving a Prius ;-)

Not a problem - we have a deal with a local NCP for £1 / hour.

Not really - I'm in Stroud / Gloucester the day before, and going home
from the office - so I really have to take the car.

Hmmm, this had crossed my mind - but I hate the tube and the thought of
having to get a tube back to Kensington so I can pick up the car to
drive home doesn't exactly inspire me.

(SteveH) gurgled happily, sounding much like they
    were saying:
IKWYM - but Kensington is then a damn sight easier for the M4 than High
    Holborn is.

    You're probably right.

If I can get in the hotel car-park, then that would be the sensible
    option.

I may tube it to Holborn and walk from there - minimal time spent on the
    tube, with no changes.

Not really , as you'd only have claimed it on expenses anyway.

So, leave car at hotel, get tube, pick car up later.

I'd park the car at Swindon & catch a train, like what Champ does.
