I thought you'd go so you could knock one out at the sight of the
gorgeous S1C I saw there on the Classic Bike display near Graham's
stand. Timo could go and get all germanic about the attention to detail
on the XL250 Motorsport there too

    exactly.

If it were under a tenner, I might go, but £18 is just simply taking
    the piss.

i do. it also copes with greek, kanji, hiragana, and sumero-akkadian. it
    just copes with them differently.

i'm sure i've already explained the problem before: usenet is broken by
design as it assumes that everything is 7-bit ascii and doesn't specify
a means of describing anything else.

But what's your purpose, or perceived advantage, in using something
that doesn't comply with that assumption?

Odd. Antonye's post contains the correct symbol. Dog's quote from
antonye correctly contains the pound symbol. However, your quote of dog's
quote of antonye contains the spanish 'n' with a squigly bit.

So I put it to you sir: get a decent newsreader.

But it's your setup that's failed to quote it correctly. I wondered
why you'd have something that was set up in such a way that it would
    fail to do so.

    but it's not though.

From Google.groups, the first post with the dodgy character is
Champ's, and if I try to reply to dog's post, it works fine.

No, it's your setup, and Champ's setup up, that failing to read it
    correctly.
