The rackets are in Jockland. Could buy some more - there's a place just
    round the corner...

I could do with a couple, and a ball or two - can you get me a couple
of cheapish ones, and I'll sort you out the dosh? Also, do you want me
to come up to your place, or do you want me to book Edmonton again?

It wasn't all *that* bad - cept there wasn't a huge amount of it and if I'd
actually paid any attention to what I had ordered (*steamed* sea bass) I
would have noticed that a *burnt* fish wasn't what I had ordered. Still, I
don't think ogden complained about the place, and that's what counts.

Mmm, sea bass. We had that last night. I'd never cooked it before and
we had 3 elderly ladies coming to dinner, so I was a bit anxious. This
was my recipe, which worked wonderfully.

Lay out the fillets in a big metal dish. Squeeze fresh lemon juice
over each one. Brush melted butter over each one. Sprinkle liberally
with dill. Cover dish tightly with foil. Put in oven for half an hour
on quite a gentle heat. Remove dish, remove foil, serve with julienne
of carrots, duchesse potatoes and creamed leeks. Delicious.

It was gook food [1], which I object to in general. I suspect a
subtantial part of the reason darsy took us there was because he
    knew I wouldn't like it.

[1] a term I suspect I probably used, quite loudly, while there. Doh.

so, are you coming to meet this bloke for a drink or what? Tonight's
out for me, but any of the others are a possibility...

probably not there - if Simon's coming he can suggest somewhere more
    suitable in the general area.

Otherwise "The Paternoster", on Newgate Street, near St.Pauls tube
station is most convenient for *me*...

If it's Wednesday or Thursday I'll be up for a beer or two. I might even
have my brother in tow as he's back in London for a while.[1]
Anywhere round that neck of the woods is fine by me, Knights Templar?

[1] He's nothing like me you'll be glad to hear.

Wednesday's good for me. Thursday's not too bad. Actually, it turns
out tonight is OK too, but tomorrow night isn't.
    don't know it - where's that?

On the other hand, heading over to Soho would a) make a change for me
    & b) be more suitable for the semi-anonymous OP who's name I've
    forgotten.

Failing that, we should just go to Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes and have
    done with it...(http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/review_1278.html)
he's still going to be a northerner though...

    We'll go for Wednesday then?
Chancery Lane. I only picked it because a) it's a big pub and b) it's
    close to me
No problem but not knowing Soho that well I'll let somebody else pick the
    pub.
    Sounds lovely...
He left the grim north long before I did.

ah. I kinda assumed that when you said "that neck of the woods", you
were referring to the same "neck of the woods" that I was i.e.
    St.Pauls.

    Oh. I don't know:

"Don't come here, I'm not joking! The bar staff are rude and obnoxious,
the seating is uncomfortable and woe betide the fools that try the food!
There are so many better places in the vicinity including Cocomo and
Bridge & Tunnel that this place is really best kept at arms length!"

    Sounds jolly enough.

It's just all the pointless pretention.

Of course I did. Those older than me shook their heads in a "wtf" kind
of way. I'm merely doing now, to those in their youth, what was done to
me then when I was in my youth.

Face it, young people[1] like others misunderstanding/disliking what
they do so I view this as a social service.

[1] You utter fucking ****, darsy. You're making me feel much fucking
older than I am. If I'm ever in a position to cut your legs off with a
lawnmower, so help me God, I'll run the fucker on methanol.
