You omitted: 'Impossibler to get to through any sensible means, or
    without driving through industial wasteland'
Heh. Were they ever used? :)

Would make quite a start though wouldn't it?

As an example, you could give 1200 people £25 000 each to go get a flat, get
some training and get a job.

I sort of meant "in comparison to the other (closer) Multiplex near
me, the UGC at Southbury Corner".

Actually, the UCI's been a lot better since the UGC opened, because
most of the scum go to the UGC instead.

It's neither "right next to the North Circular" or "in Edmonton". It's
about a 1/2 a mile north of the NC, on Meridian Way.
No-one lives in the area - it's a fucking industrial zone.

That can only be a good thing. TBH I've not been to the UCI since I
moved last June. Not that Harlow is any better you understand

Twas on the news this morning that each household in the greater London area
(BBC) will have to contribute £20 towards the bid through Council tax etc
    etc.
I'll take that as a whoosh then.

I never said £30 million would sort out the homeless problem. If you
bothered to read I said the money would be better spent elsewhere than just
pissing up the wall on a futile excerise YTC ;-)

I don't live in London. hth.
Here's a cut and paste from your original post :

"£30m would sort out a lot of problems in central London - like
getting the dossers off the streets and promoting tourism to the UK
    etc etc."

I merely paraphrased "getting the dossers off the streets" as "sorting
    the homeless problem".

Eh ? Hosting the Olympics is a *good thing* to do.
I really don't see why the cost or anything else for that matter is an
issue. FFS all the good things cost money, and London could easily
afford it. If £60m guarantees the Games here, i'd *gladly* pay my
share, and paying up some more later, for getting stuff done, so be
it. I can't see any reason why London should not go for it.
Sure I'm not convinced either of the bid line up nor the resident liar
in the House - a Steve Redgrave or similar recent might have been a
far better choice in the spotlight than Seb Coe but - that is trivial.
If Sydney can do it, and well by all accounts, London could at least
    try.
30m(?) taxpayers have 8 years to raise the money. That's a tenner a
year or less than a quid a month. Bargain.

Well, according to Clarkson last night, you can pick up an AK47 for 60 quid.

So, how many bullets can you buy for £29,999,940 - certainly enough to get
    the dossers off the streets.
