Thought it was a good programme, though I think Clarkson was asking for
complaints from the PC brigade by demonstrating the spud gun and then saying
"I'm off to rob a bank"...

I think that is the most pertinent comment. There are plenty of
places in this country better suited to hosting the Olympics than
London.

The NEC in particular has loads of room to build proper stadia to host
everything.

 

Taking the word 'arguably' to hear there, eh?

 

Didn't get the contract to supply the ladies eh?

 

Or improve on what was already in place for the commonwealth games in
Manchester.

It's got the international airport, the road links, and enough locals on
the dole to provide a sizable workforce.

£30m is ***** all* when it comes down to it. Christ, I've been
involved in £10m software projects that have delivered little more
than a bunch of documents (looks at AndyR).

And the Olympics will probably promote more tourism than anything,
ytc.

 

Not according to their own figures it won't.

 

I'm not claiming that any of it is true. These are my opinions... although
g] was taken from the BBC news this morning.

 

No they don't.

 

But you still can't argue "it's too expensive to host the games"
and also claim "we're not going to get it". If we're not going
to get it, it doesn't matter how much it will cost.
