Well it does go through the same crossroads twice, in opposite
directions, between Limehouse and Shadwell. Having gone around
    Wapping.

  2. There are three UKIP candidates located in Bush Hill Park! Sounds like
    a hotbed of lunacy.

However assuming you told the truth about which side of the station you
live at then there is only one road that fits.

    <sm>

    [1] not really.

Well, despite not voting for them I'm a 'wet' Tory and have no stomach
    for the left.

It is? I'm just being malicious here.

Well, I don't think it does. It cropped up in '96/'97 and Brown was
clearly lying to get his place in history. I clearly remember Humphries
giving him a hard time about it.

I think it reflects badly on Brown; but I can't produce proof. Suspect
it surfaced in Q1 1997. Brown had stated he was used to 'business'
because his mother was the director of a small company; his mother
pointed out she played no active role.
Well, he's done a good job as chancellor apart from the way he's shafted
anyone with money invested in a pension fund (read everyone who has a
pension and doesn't have a finally salary pension plus those who were
prudent enough to pay AVCs etc.)

However I don't trust him- see the above and if it was earlier in the
evening I'm sure I could find other issues.

    Blair's moderated him effectively.

I always find your posts hard to understand; whether you're being
    sarcastic or not.

It's a 'stealth' tax that is levied on people who have chosen to make
their own provision for the future.

And, the 0.3 to 0.35% adds up over the years as a pension fund grows; or
in this case grows slighly less.

He doesn't actually fly, he just keeps it in the garage.

My default mode is sarcastic, if that helps.
It the removal of a tax relief, not the imposition of a tax.
    Well, yes.

heh - if such an organisation had been standing, I might well have
    voted for them.

I'd quite like a goat, actually.

    Hmm. That's what I suspected.
    This is splitting hairs.

I get tax relief on my pension *contributions* so why should one
specific area of income to my pension start being taxed?

Something that wasn't taxed (or was excluded from taxation) is now
taxed; it *looks* like a new tax.
How much is it pulling out of the pension funds a year? Fucked if I can
remember but memory tells me it's 'billions'at a time when pension funds
are under pressure- look at the annuity rates, look at the final salary
    schemes being closed.

On the one hand we are being encouraged to make provision for our
future. On the other hand there is a tax levied when we do.

  11. This is how I feel. I'm happy with him holding the purse-strings, but
    not the reins of power.

I don't expect employers to be 'good' in this respect. I would like to
expect my Government to be good.

I remember the Humphries interview. It happened. I could be wrong about
the date, I *think* it was pre-election because he was using this to
    develop his credibility.

Of course I can't *prove* it happened; and believe me I've done a fair
    bit of googling...

I'm willing to conceed I can't find any proof.
Oh, Equitable *was* a failing of regulation. However I don't blame the
    Labour Government for this one.

Your losses are simply that there's less in your pot when it comes to
buying your annuity hence the potential yield is less.

    Yes. I regret it now.
Hmm. I've not thought about rationalising my three; for the reason that
the one I want to get shot of is charging ridiculous 'exit' fees.

I don't deny any of the above.

Choosing to start to levy taxation on a part of the pension scheme is
hardly helpful at this time though it it.

I still haven't got my arse in gear and registered for the flat I moved
to in September. Makes credit checks a bit of a PITA, let alone
    registering with online bookies.

I have a fantastic credit file - let down only slightly by my area but
mainly let down by the fact I have no money :)
