    I was watching this item

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/320581094570 earlier. This is a relist because
with a starting price of £1395 (and no reserve), it attracted no bids.
I thought £1395 a tad strong myself, but I do like the R65.

And he's relisted it at £1 and added a BIN of £2750. I assumed this
was a listing mistake (should have been £1750?) and queried it.

"It's not listing error. Just taking note of what seems to be the
market for a bike in this condition. The reserve is somewhat less."

    Idiot.

Yes, I asked about that as well, and enquired whether the seat just
hadn't been closed properly. he said it had too long a stop bolt and
he'd been meaning to sort it.

I also asked if the bike itself had been resrpayed because I always
remember the R65LS as having a two-tone tank (dark lower section). He
    didn't know.

It didn't attract any bids on first attempt, so he raised the
effective BIN by nearly £1400 because he thinks that's what the bike
is worth, and it hasn't got a V5 and it might have been resprayed.

If he was the one who decided on the "Daytona" lookalike fairing
respray, why not the rest as well? As it is, it looks just odd, IMHO.
So when the relisting doesn't attract any bids, he'll probably list it
with a BIN at £3.5k, for the attention of the collectors . . .

But why is the R65 so desirable, compared to e.g. the R80? I know about
the short stroke engine, but the R80s came with different final drive
ratios that could allow better (or less slow) acceleration, or to push
    RT/RS fairings along, if required.

The listing for eBay item #140442593791 seems more realistic when it
comes to the starting price, but having been done up from a sorry state,
who knows if/how long it will run without developing lots of technical
    problems.

  14. The short-stroke engine is way sweeter. The frame's different as well:
    physically smaller. And it's lighter.

It's just a really nce ShiteOldBoxer that's sort of seven-eighths scale.

I dont know if the final drives are interchangeable. It wouldn't
    surprise me.

  16. Oooh, lovely. Um, take a look at the sig.
It might surprise you, sweetheart, but I don't think I've sold a bike
this year. Not a whole one, anyway.

    <Thinks>

Might have done. Can't remember one, though.

    Oh yes it is :)))
Trying to think; trying to remember..... When did I last sell a 125....?
Oh yes, that would probably be the SL125 I restored.
Heh. I think you've got it the other way around..
    Doubt it.

Now, school begins soon, so up to bed with you.
