I can't believe how absolutely inefficient I am tinkering. Got fuel
pissing out of split, old fuel lines on the Gamma, off with the tank,
side fairings & air tubes to carbies. Frigg around with needle nose
pliers get the old hoses out.
Drive down repco to check size, all good if slightly bigger outer
diameter. No problem...that is until I attempt to get the protector
springs back over the hose (hose go between rear exhaust headers -coils
    form heat/friction guards).
Damn if I didn't spend 1 hr with silicon spray, getn those spring back
    on!

Another 20-30m frign around with tight spaces putting on the little hose
clamps, break for maccas, refit tubes, tank, 20yo fairings don't quite
line up like they're supposed. another 20m stuffing around (all
    single-handly)

Ah finally test ride, dusk and park, clean-up then time to cook dinner.
All the time thinking shop probably allows 30m-1hr for the whole job tho
I'd wonder if theyd'd skip the springs and not mention it.

Clem reads "had a great day playing with the bike and then got to take it
for a strop in the evening..."

  3. Bloody! Even if I was on the ball, Clem beat me to it as well!

Look on the bright side, it is done now!

    Beer o'clock.

    [sigh]
Such is the sad life of a man who's spending all his ridin'-time on the
'net trying to find a new bike (or buy back his old one).

Replace the springs with hose clamps, that way they are adjustable. Problem
    solved.

Not sure if I follow..I'd need a whole heap of clamps!
These springs/coils are most of the length of the hoses i.e. ~7". The
fuel line is pushed through the centre so there is protection along 95%
length of the fuel hose with just the ends free for hose clamps and to
be able to push over fuel barbs.
