Although I'm fairly set on buying Zymurgy's 12R, I was having a bit of
a poke around to see what I might be able to buy for the spare cash I
have + my LC4 as a trade in. And I was specifically looking at
    litrebikes.

It seems that for a given year, on average ZX-10Rs are about 15%[1]
cheaper than the equivalent R1 or GSXR thou - any thoughts on why this
    might be the case?

    [1] typically £5K will buy a '05 10R but only an '03 or '04 R1.
Similarly, an '05 Gixer Thou will cost around £5750.

Market size. Any poof can ride an R1 or Gixxer.

heh. Doesn't account for Ginge having a 10R though, does it?

What's a "good year" for the 10R? '05 models appear to be in my zone.

Because the 10R isn't exactly what one might call an oil painting.

04/05, C1/C2 models. Everything after that was even more minging.

    Fortunately, he doesn't ride it
Andy and I would say that it's only the 04 and 05 model years that are
worth having. After that they a) softened it a bit and b) made it
    look shit.

Have you had a decent go on one? I don't want to big up their
'animal' image unnecessarily, but it's prolly fair to say they're not
for everyone. Then again, you found your blade a bit dull, didn't
you, so you might like it.

Of course, you're very welcome to ride mine, but Andy is a lot closer
    to you.

"properly". I'm sure I saw him with it in France last year.
    fair enough.
I just got bored with the 'blade.

To be fair, that's a fairly normal reaction.

    I know what you mean.

I probably won't buy one - mainly because the general game plan was to
buy the 12R, and then probably sell the LC4 mid/late summer.

  10. Just too extreme for many, I fear.

They were cheaper at the showroom, or given away free.

I don't think my wussy 10R was really any more extreme than the 08
GSX-R1000. However it was harder to ride. More flighty and
    uncomfortable.

Why not take a look at Ash's R1. 06 model but with 17k miles - seems
fairly mint though. That's sitting at £4600 with 3 days to go. I can't
see it going much over £5k but suppose some Europeans might bid it higher.

If you do decide you're seriously interested in buying one and are
going on the May French trip I'll take mine and you can have a decent
go on it with no fear of picking up points.

Cane didn't want to give it back after he'd done about 25 miles on it
    so draw your own conclusions.

    Did you get any points?

Or, for that matter, a fine, or anything?

I didn't think it[1] was more extreme than my k3 gixxer either. More
forward seating position, hence less feeling of space and,
presunmably, less comfortable on a long trip, but the power and
handling weren't much different, AFAICT. I certainly didn't get any
impression of 'flighty' or 'harder to ride'.

I'm not, but thanks anyway. I've slept on it now, and decided I really
    am more of a 12R than a 10R person.
Cane's an idiot? What do I win?
