    Hi.
The DVLA specify a 125 officially capable of over 100KPH for the "A"
    test (see part 4): http://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/rdmcycle.htm

I wonder if anyone has a list of suitable 125s????
I think such a list would greatly help any learner in his/her choice
    of learner motorbike.
    If you know of/own 125s with above/below 100KPH or 63MPH *OFFICIAL
BOOK SPECS*, could you (pretty) please add them in the appropriate
    category below?!
    Thanks, Mark K.

125s CAPABLE OF *OVER* 100KPH (per book specs.):

125s CAPABLE OF *OVER* 100KPH (per book specs, WITH OPTIONAL SUPPLIED
    SPROCKET):

125s *NOT* officially capable of over 100KPH:

  2. Dunno about book spec, but my old DT used to do 70mph bog standard.

Things might be different now though.

Isn't A1 the light motorcycles test?

    <Goes to check>

Yes, it is, so the OP was correct.

Sorry, I got my licence back in the days of a single test and it was my
impression that most people now did their A test to get a 33hp machine or
went directly to DAS, I didn't think anybody bothered with the thrill of
being able to ride a 125 without 'L' plates.

    Am I wrong?

Because it eventually entitles you to ride any bike (A1 is max 125cc).
How about you add some bikes to the list instead of being wrong?

Actually, I'm not really interested in anything bigger than a 125
4stroke, but I would like to have the option for it on my licence. My
prime purpose for getting a bike licence is to ride motorbikes on
holiday because they are far cheaper to rent than a car and easier to
buy/sell after an extended stay. On the Islands we have been to/plan
to visit it is virtually impossible to do over 50mph (cows, chickens,
horses, donkeys, landcrabs, potholes, coconuts and people get in the
way). A 125 can happily carry two people with shopping at a relaxed
pace. The problem is availability of motorbikes (and a scarcity of
helmets) in such places. We did see a family of 4 (husband, wife, two
kids) on a 50cc moped (without helmets, of course)....
Have added your Hyosung to the list, thanks.
