Paul, do stop being a sanctimonious twat, there's a love. I know he just
insulted your beloved public transport, but there's no need to go off on
    one.

BGN scribbled on the back of a napkin:
Use the one in Ashford then :).

Actually that looks pretty much DSS funded as well but I occasionally
go there to pick up stuff I can't get anywhere else unless I drive back
    to Germany...

I'm not really a good person to be preaching about parenting skills
but I think that if one flat-out refuses to discuss anything about a
particular subject with a child then the child would probably start to
keep things that were worrying it inside thinking that their feelings
and/or thoughts were wrong which wouldn't help with their emotional
    state.

Ask anyone here who's seen me deal with troublesome kids and they'll
tell you that I prefer to talk things out with them rather than shout or
use physical punishment. I am quite successful at it too. However, when
all those failed kicking them out of the car worked very well.

Once upon a time my eldest daughter - then aged 15 - was arrested for
pulling wheelies on her RM125 crosser on the road. After 2 hours of
driving up to Leicester to bail her out and finding her sitting there in
a cell fuming and unrepentant, I decided to leave her in the cell
overnight. The next morning she was a gibbering wreck, but she's never
been in trouble like that with the police again. It hurt me like crazy
to see my only child like that, but it taught her a lesson she won't
    forget in a hurry.

  5. Were they a sideline of London Transport then?

I seem to remember watching some 'food' programme or other before
Christmas. Think it was a Rick Stein thing. They were somewhere 'up
north (maybe Yorkshire) and they went to something called a 'pudding
club' where the attendees er... regularly tasted puddings[1]

At this meeting they were blind tasting Christmas Puddings. I *think*
that they had one from Lidl and it did *quite* well. The people who
voted for it were utterly horrified when they were told what they had
    chosen.

    [1] It's grim up north.

Using public transport certainly gets you a black mark, if not in BGN's
book then in mine. Heavens, a bus is almost as bad as the Underground.

Left in the cells at 15? I didn't think that was allowed.

Oh, I don't think it's a London Transport thing. They were probably
originally designed by the people that did the Routemaster though.

Not much choice when her dad walks out and leaves her there. By the time
Social Services had got their arse into gear and attended I had been
back there picking her up 2 hours before.

They can and do lock kids in cells. I was at that age, so were a good
    few of my mates.

    Pudding Club, been there twice.
    Fekin excellent weekends.
Great grub if you are into the traditional puds and the lashings of custard
    or fresh cream.
The Chocolate sauce they do is made there and is *the* best I have ever had.

I was an extremely fat (ter) bastard that weekend after getting the
certificate for eating a slice of EVERY pudding served.

  12. Oggie - do stop being the group censor. there's a love. Last time I
looked I could write what the hell I liked the way I want to write it.
If you don't like it then don't bother to read it. That way you won't
    be troubled.

  14. I've replied to far worse people than you. Don't try to portray
yourself as some sort of villain.
Most of the people? - I'd guess one person acted in the way described
above. Yes it can be difficult and embarrassing to be in the company of
such people. Yes the natural reaction is to move away. Not everyone is
blessed with full physical and mental health - isn't there some
terrifying statistic that says a high proportion of the population will
suffer mental illness at some point in their life? I wonder if the next
natural reaction is to then post your views to a newsgroup?

You went on to deride old people for using the bus and for their
apparent "scent". I very much doubt that everyone on the bus was like
that. You then continued by likening the afternoon's events to some
    form of crisis.

Even as some form of grand dramatisation I just find it all a bit odd.
I think you seem (note that word) to portray your on group *image* (as
I've not met you) as being a great big gay drama queen. You seemed to be
terribly disappointed not to be going to the store that has the highest
proportion of nice things on sale and probably the highest proportion of
gay shoppers. It just seems all a bit stereotypical to me.

I'm putting 2 and 2 together and probably getting 36 so feel free to
tell me to piss off. You can join the queue behind Ogden.
That isn't the point is it? You portrayed your behaviour as a tad
temperamental and distracting. If I was driving and I was your parent
[2] I'm not sure I'd tolerate that sort of behaviour in a car when I was
trying to concentrate on the driving.

[1] I'll await the psychological article urls.
[2] heaven forbid - for both of us :)

To be fair you did leave them in Scotland for a long time, that's
    almost the same thing.

Do you honestly think bait as rancid as that will work with Mr
Corfield? I know he's prone to having his hair parted by a low flying
whoosh but you're asking a bit much this time.

What was really unfair was leaving them with their mother no matter
    where it was.
