    CHP officers nab fleeing motorcyclist

A motorcyclist fled at speeds up to 130 mph on northbound Highway 1 about 5:45
p.m. Monday before getting off at Morrissey Boulevard and crashing soon after.

The chase started at Rio del Mar Boulevard when a California Highway Patrol
officer tried to stop the gray Yamaha, which had no license plate, said CHP
    Sgt. Stephan Seibert.

The rider took off, driving the wrong way on one-way streets, then hit the
highway at State Park Drive and headed north, Seibert said.

He sped down the center divider and shoulder to elude officers, left the
highway at Morrissey and was caught after speed bumps at Goss Avenue sent
him crashing into a parked car, Seibert said.

Gary Brich, 39, of Santa Cruz, was arrested on suspicion of driving under
the influence of narcotics and evading an officer, he said.

A helicopter flew Brich to a San Jose hospital as a precaution.

It was the fourth unsuccessful attempt by a motorcyclist to flee officers
    over the holiday weekend.

I may have the details wrong as I saw this quite some time ago now, but
I watched the cops pursuing a bike at extremely high speeds until the
bike ran into the side of a bus. The rider was lying on the ground
after the very violent collision, (most likely with many broken bones),
when the pursuers came to a stop, jumped on top of the rider and twisted
his probably broken arms behind him to put the cuffs on.... There is a
    moral to this, folks.

Actually, there is more than one moral:
Moral 1) Always avoid speed bumps when fleeing at high speed.
Moral 2) If your arms are broken, and cops want to put you in handcuffs,
remind them that they are being filmed by "Cops" and that this **might**
look like police brutality when shown in court.
Moral 3) Always yell, "HA HA, coppers. You'll never catch me!" Just
    before crashing.
Moral 4) Maybe you'll get to keep the free pair of handcuffs.
Moral 5) Keith Code says: Gently roll on the throttle. You will have more
control over your suspension while traversing those *SR* inducing speed
    bumps.
Moral 6) Say you've just crashed into a bus. Maybe, you can hijack the
bus and escape from the cops.
