    Hi all,

Planning on going to LeMans in April for the first time ever with a couple
of mates. I've booked a ferry to LeHavre and found hotel acommodation -
120Eros for all three of us for three nights....seems pretty good as long as
we don't have to top & tail! Any advice regarding the ride down or good
places to visit (as well as those to avoid)? We're going on the Thursday
night and returning Monday afternoon - so can get a good nights kip after
the race finishes Sunday before riding back to LeHavre.

It may snow. No joking. I have spent a happy but fucking freezing
    weekend at LeMans.

What a load of bollocks. I've been on plenty of ferry crossings
and I've yet to see a chain thrown over my bike on any of them.

Likewise, always been pleasant and helpful IME
Lighten up Gramps, it was a good post.

  6. I too remember snow at Le Mans, in the 1980s some time.

  9. Could have been. Or '86. Certainly not '88.

I remember the issue of Bike that covered Le Mans that year related how
the entire Team Bike went into town to buy thermal grundies. I also
remember the start happened in a snowstorm.

Sounds good. We're back on the 17:00 Le Harve to Portsmouth on the Monday
too. Got 11pm outwards on the Thursday - in at 8am. What about grandstand
tickets - worth getting (at 13Euro) or not?

  12. I've never had my bike damaged on a cross-channel ferry. However -
recovery monkeys have damaged two of my bikes (destroyed head bearing
and big scuff on paintwork). And in both cases refused to acknowledge
    the damage.
