What, CASA crash comics or what? I spend a lot more than ten minutes
per month on research, like anyone else who wants to be an old pilot.
I have issues with dodgy cites that fly in the face of common sense
and current knowledge. I present two words for your consideration:

    "Peer review".

    Nice strawmen, BT.
I wish people would read and understand before dismissing.
    I give up.

I've done something similar on a GPX250 which broke its "open the
throttle" cable as a solution to get me home. I simply swapped the 2
throttle cables over on the carburettor so that the "close the throttle"
cable did the job instead. It only took 10 minutes or so to seem normal.

Ooooh yes, THAT.....Well, that particular left hander WAS a piece of
poo..... but it was more the drift of bloody gravel than the corner itself
    that got me. :p Near my house there's a beaut left-hander (gravel-free!)
that makes me grin every time...

MrHumble, I am overcome by the compulsion to correct you.

The word "either" is used when referring to _two_ people, things, etc.
( clue: either/or) Since in this case you are clearly referring to
three women ( a dangerous practice at the best of times), you should
have said "any of the ladies".

I'm surprised that Betty did not lambaste you for this. Perhaps
English is not here strong suit...

But to show that I am a fair chap, I'll let your use o the term "lady"
go through to the keeper on this occasion. But don't let it happen
again. Do I make myself clear?

WE WON THE CRICKET YESTERDAY !!!

You've got me there, by my reading my first sentence contained references
to 2 ladies, and a road. Are you perhaps suggesting that roads are female?

More than a few years ago I was on my daily commute from the south coast
of Sussex to South London on my Ducati 860GT when the throttle cable
snapped - at least the nipple pulled off the handlebar end of the cable.
Being a Ducati owner of some years I always commuted with a bag of
tools, wire, tape etc but discovered much to my horror that I had no
spare cable and no screw-on nipple (don't go there).

In the end I pulled the cable through the cable holder and wrapped it
around the outside of the rubber of the twist grip. Clamped it on there
with a large (10 inch) pair of vice grips in the vertical (upright)
position. Holy Shit! I had just invented the Ducati "Throttle Lever".
Best of all were the faces of cagers watching me overtake them working
the throttle in between gear changes! Worked so well (and I was such a
lazy bastard) that I left it like that for a week or so while I waited
for a new one to arrive.
