I have been wearing an old ex police issue BKS jacket for some time
now. having passed my DAS, bought the speed triple, I cant help but
think I should treat myself to a new one.

    Torn between:
    Furygan houston ~250
    Alpine stars stunt ~320
    Spyke ? ~320

A friend and a dealer both told me that Dainese were overpriced so
have narrowed it to these. Anyone have any experiences with these
    brands of jacket?

the shop with the furygan were trying to push IXS jackets on me - they
looked good but were only 169. Not so sure about those.

I'd look elsewhere for one which isn't torn. The damage can have a
    negative effect on its safety.

Stefan emerged from their own little world to say
If you like the IXS jacket then buy it. A mate had an IXS 2 piece suit
which was hardly damaged in a spot of hedge surfing.

All of the brands you list are fashion orientated. I'd stick with the BKS.

A2: Yes. Consider repair before buying another...

    Q2: Does it fit well?

A1: Yes. Save yer money - keep wearing it.
A2: No. Consider adjustments or buy another

Stick with the BKS - even though it's old, it's probably still miles better
than any of the others you've listed.

Or failing that, if you've got the dosh, get BKS[1] to make you a new one
    :)

[1] or MJK - highly regarded round here as well
