  1. Which means he could have been any one of:

    Carthaginian (aka Phoenician)
Greek (the name for Iberia comes from them)
Vandal/Visigoth (from the later parts of the Roman period)
    Roman
    Celt (in northern Iberia)

    Take your pick :)

Babylon, so a little further east than that, but they extended their
empire across into modern-day Tunisia, founding the city of Carthage
    there in pre-Roman times.

Yes, and Spanish Cartagena appears to be Cartago Nova, AFAIR.

  5. Northen Canaan (Tyre and Sidon area to be precise). Well - that was
the main area of their civilisation before they branched out into North
    Africa (Carthage) and Iberia.
They probably also traded to Britain for tin.

They got destroyed in Canaan (finally) by Alexander the Great.

  6. They didn't extend as far east as Babylon. They had a city called
Byblos (on the Mediterranean coast just north of Beirut) but they were
confined almost extensively to the coastal areas of Canaan (until they
started founding overseas colonies like Cartage, the Iberian colonies
and the various other African colonies.
    Carthago delenda est!

I sit corrected. I was thinking of the period when Phoenicia was
subsumed into the various Mesopotamian/Assyrian empires, during parts
of which the Phoenecians were indeed ruled from Babylon.

    But yes, clearly different peoples.
