My daughter who is 17 is about to do her CBT, after this she want to
get a bike. Any suggestions for a reliable bike? She wants a Honda
but I dont have a clue on the smaller bikes. It will be used mainly
for short commuting journeys. No doubt she wont keep it long if she
passes her test she will want to upgrade.

You haven't said anything about budget but I doubt you'd want your
daughter riding some unreliable heap of shit. Buy a Honda CG125. I
wouldn't go for brand new but something like this.

Thanks for the advice a Honda CG 125 seems to fit the bill nicely, she
    has about £700-1000 to spend.

Worth every penny in my humble opinion. It's a nice bike by all
    accounts.

Tis. Surprisingly nice for a 125. When I collected it from Cane's
place, I had to ride it home via the M11 and Blackwall Tunnel on a
February evening. Not a long way to ride, but a ride I wasn't looking
forward to. But the SR sat at 70 on the Motorway no problems. Much
    better than a CG, IMHO.

I posted a FS post on this bike a week or so back, but to recap, it's
in very good condition - not been dropped from what I can see unlike
most second hand learner bikes. It has a new battery and brake pads,
recent chain and sprockets and it had a service last summer (fluids,
filters and plug change) but hasn't been used since. Tyres are good
with lots of life and there's a rack and top box fitted. Currently on
    SORN.

That's good. If she's going to commute she'll need to be warm & dry as
well as safe. Good gear makes all the difference.

How far is the commute, is it rural or urban?

Sounds like you've really looked after it. A bargain for a great
    little bike at that price.

Strange; I've re-read that post three times, and I *still* can't spot
    the innuendo.

Aye, it's been looked after. I'm very intolerant of unreliable

I think we paid your mate 800 for the bike, so 650 sounds fair 2/3
years on. And it is relatively high mileage, for valuation purposes.

Leave the poor sod alone, he's having a hard time of it.

I doubt it. Apparently stress can do that.
What, after Blaney's done the business? No thanks.
