This is a '66 TR6 650. The right slider leaks really rapidly at the very
bottom where the axle fits and the cap goes on. No visible cracks anywhere
but haven't taken the front wheel and axle off yet. This is not a leak from
the drain plug [stays dry] or from the seal/top of slider. Seems to be
definitely coming from the axle and cap area. Never seen this one before.
Any help or shared experiences greatly appreciated. Thanks and happy trails

  2. Do old Triumphs have a damper rod with a damoper piston on the top that
is bolted to the bottom of the slider?

That's what holds damper rod forks together and keeps the front wheel
from falling off with the sliders attached when a motorbike goes over a
    jump.

If you have a loose damper rod bolt, it could leak as you described.

A lot of non-damper rod forks back in those days were just held
together by a snap ring above the oil seal an a good strong jerk of the
steel stanchion tube would pull everything, including the fork bushing
    out of the slider.
