I'm pretty sure it'll get to the fitting a sidecar to the bike I haven't
yet collected stage. Whether the links get fitted will depend on two
    things:

    a) How bad the telescopic forks are on the K100 when used with a
    sidecar.
    b) How much time I have free to fix it.

However, it won't need to be fixed until the elefantentreffen in January
next year so bags of time.

    Only just seen this.

    Thanks.

Here's the signature you can cut and paste into a disclaimer "X"

The rest... will measure up what kind of size I need over the next week
    or so.

Presumably the measuring you have already done showed that the distance
    between the tubes is OK?

I won't hold my breath, I'm still waiting for Champ to send me a fuel
return so I can make a fitting for his turbot's tank.

  7. Piece of piss to get new yokes made. The rest, which largely consists of
riding the thing while idly wondering if they're (yokes or front end)
ever going to crack or let go catastrophically, is up to you.

I haven't priced new yokes but at a guess I'd suspect upwards of £800
wouldn't be far out. They're easy to get made if you hose money at
someone but to make yourself they'd be a **** of a job.

    Rough machine billets to size
    Rough out bores
    Finish billets to size
    Finish machine bores
    Finish machine any slots
    Drill and tap as required
    Rough machine steering stem
    Heat treatment on steering stem
    Finish grind steering stem
    Assemble

Piece of piss? Not if you do the job properly.

    Measure LL forks.
    Measure original yokes.
If different, heat LL fork legs and dogleg to suit.

And may I point out that BMW produced airhead boxers for a quarter of a
century with a top yoke snipped out of a beer can?

Well, it looks 'ok'. The measuring was done with a tape measure across
the forks and by eye (by both myself and the bloke I bought them off).
There's a lot of measuring to be done yet I'm sure.

  11. It's a tad heavier than typical beercan. Also, the weight carrying is done
on the bottom yoke, the top one is mostly lateral location.

Personally, I'd make flanged sleeves for the yokes out of steel, if it were
mine, but only if I thought the thinner fork legs were up to it.

If I were getting yokes made, I'd want someone who knows what they're doing
    on the job.

    Cherman beer can, innit?
    That's hardly the ukrm way.

  13. Which is largely what I was suggesting. Note, I didn't say, "Make a set
of yokes yourself." Anyway, custom bike builders have been making
replacement yokes for years, and several have a decent track record at
it. Quite what the current prices are, I've no idea.
