I tend to manipulate pictures rather than generate them. So I might
place a 3D generated image from Maya into a filmed background to make a
composite shot.


Shake is similar to Combustion but has come from a film background
rather than a video one. It's a pretty good tool and very good VFM.

Did a mechanical engineering degree, realised I didn't want to be an
engineer, sat on the dole (1985) until an interesting job came up.
Started in "Interactive video", moved into editing then into effects.

Lots of kids do mejia studies courses not realising that they've bugger
all chance of a job at the end

Still very good value when you compare to the alternatives. You won't
get much change out of £250k for a Discrete Logic Inferno (Not that I'm
making comparisons, mind)

I'm rather hoping the documentaries will grow out of it soon.

There was an excellent discourse from Brian Sewell comparing television
productions belittling and then losing their audience against his
experience of teaching art history in Brixton prison.

Summed up as "treat them as equals and the they will equal you".
