For the first time in most people's living memory.

While the spics were out there today marvelling at what the white stuff
was all over the place and feeling cold, I was out on my bike in the
    sunshine.

    **** 'em.

Interesting. I was going to move there this summer if my eye hadn't
burst and all the operations. Shame as now I can't stand sunlight yet
:( been a dream of mine for years to go there. Just as things where
looking good I went blind :( oh well maybe in a few years time.

We was bugged out to there for a while from Libya during the Gadaffi
revolt/bloodless coup and it's always stuck in my mind.

We were in Malta in '96 during the elections. When labour got in the whole
place went *mental* with convoys of cars, bikes, buses and trucks all
dressed in banners, with horns blasting, going round and round the island.

I've got some video footage in the back of a box somewhere...

Isn't Malta the place where they confiscate your house if
you leave the island for more than three months?
Or have I grasped the wrong end of the stick again?

That used to be the case, but it was 3 years absence. My flat[1] doesn't
count as it is in constant use by my cousins as a garage/storage area.
Once the front is remade as a dwelling then it will need to be occupied
for a certain amount of time over so many years or the govt will take
control of it. Some of the internal walls have been remade now but I'm
not planning on putting a dwelling frontage on for some time, mainly
    because I'm skint.

[1] My flat was occupied by my grandad before he married, and he kept it
on and turned it into a large garage to store his boat in after he moved
out. No-one alive could remember it ever being a flat, so when I took on
    a garage I got a shock when I was told I'd actually got a 2 bedroom
    flat.

I was over there for a meeting during 1990 and we had hailstones and
sleet. It was the same time that the US and Russia were meeting in the
habour. It was cold but the next day it was lovely and warm. Strange.

I noticed that my driver was switching which side of the road he drove
on so I asked him which side do you drive on in Malta. He answered
    "The shade".
