...is simply best done by bike. The traffic in two towns I went to today was
the worst I've seen for ages. As for the supermarket carparks, the
drama/commotion! ~2000 cars and ~800 spaces always leads to some
'situations', but add in xmas pressure and courtesy and 'goodwill to all
men' goes right down the crapper. Breezed in past all of the queueing
traffic on the FJ and parked right outside the doors. 10mins sorting out the
last few bits/nibbles/ESB/HSB/Summer Lightning and just got to the
basket-only tills when they opened another one. Sorted. It looked like it
almost came to fisticuffs in Sainsburys where two fairly well-to-do women
were tugging at the same package of something or other, with cries of
    "Bitch" etc.
Quick stop at Lidls to get the Weissbier and Liebkeuchen sp? (German ginger
biscuits) that the kids like and a then good thrash home.
Keys hung up. Party munchies in the oven. Beer opened. Xmas now _officially_
    begins.
Seasons greetings from deepest Wiltshire to all denizens of UKRMl.
<coherency in posting now goes totally out of the window for the next few
    days>
<note to self: Stay away from ebay at all costs>

  5. Heh. I have just got back from a last-minute run to Morrisons to grab
some tonic water. I have wound up with a *massive* (10-12lbs, at a
guess) fresh salmon, now nicknamed Jaws, half price at £15. Oh, and a
large pack of Melton Mowbray pork pies for 5p. But yes. I took the bike,
because Sutton town centre was near gridlock.

Getting Jaws home was problematic, mind. In the end, as he was well
wrapped, I stuffed him tail-first inside my bike jacket, and rode home
with his tail poking out of the bottom of the jacket, resting on the
tank, and his head poking out near my collar.

    And to you, sir.
    And this is news?
Good advice. Good advice. Except that there are always some bargains at
    Xmas time....

It's ok - the bargains you get will offset the shite you buy because you
just *must* have it when drunk.

I know I can do this stuff blindfolded, wonder if I can do it while
    shedded on Dow's LBV...

Not worth trying until it's absolutely mission-critical.

  12. Peeled off the 'Reduced' sticker to check the weight: 5.1kg, dear God.
Jaws is now cut into lots of (very large) steaks and is in the freezer.

  13. Having chopped him up, I didn't notice any trace of roe. Anyway, as he's
now off-fish-ally a ukrm fish, the question is, of course, impossible to
    answer.

I think it should've been 'unless' but it works this way, too...

    That's what they always say.
