My bike battery has been charging for four days now with an Optimate 3.
    It's still showing yellow. :-(

Make sure you don't buy a bike with a Datatool Veto Evo.
It's been a reliable alarm, but it's sucking the battery juice too fast.

It's never been an issue on my Blackbird.

You did connect the optimate in the right order, didn't you, or it
will show yellow till the cows come home.

  4. Nah, those alarms don't normally drain the battery very much. I leave mine
weeks sometimes with no prob. OK, it isn't very often that I leave it so
long, and it's only 'cos I'm using t'other bike.

You did connect the optimate in the right order, didn't you, or it
I'm off to read the manual.
I've put the hard wired thing in,
but I imagine therefore you mean bike and wall socket.

Problem is my parking space is about 10 metres from my house. :-(
I need a house with a garage joined to it.

Which model do you have ?
I've been told the newer versions are much better,
go into a sleep mode after so many hours.

    Aye.

Plug in the connector, *then* connect it at the mains.

    I think.

Yep. That's what it says in the manual.
As I'd hard wired it, that's how I'd done it. :-(
    Maybe tomorrow....

Crikey! I've got an Accumate [1] and can't recall any dire warnings
about connection order [2]. I just clip it from battery to battery [3]
    with no problems.

[1] Similar to an Optimate does 6v float charge as well, but not full on
recovery. But has raised the seemingly dead before.
[2] I can't recall reading the instructions though
[3] There seems to be quite a few in the workshop...

    Indeed.
A garage and freehold are the priority upgrades next move.

Don't worry about the freehold, once you are in you have a right to buy
    the leasehold.

I bought mine out a few years ago .

I'm in a batch of twenty houses and flats at the moment.
    The freeholders are arses.
They orinigally wanted to charge me £250,
for permission to have cable installed.
I got it down to £50, which is still a joke for permission !!!

Yes, but if you own/buying not renting the flat you can buy the leeshold.
