    You scamp.

Considering your dubious choice of motorcycles you can STFU ;)

I've had both and my preference is R1, 9R and trumpet. in fact I might
even put the turbo in front of the trumpet.

very true but that wasn't a Daytona 955.

it may have been a 955cc Daytona but I is pedantic.

    Completely different bike.

I'm sure Adie will give her views on the later model but riding that
bike destroyed her confidence until she rode the 9R and remembered
    that riding bikes was fun.

Same here except substitute R6 for R1, and add a shedload more bikes between
    9R and Daytona.

Yes... I *really* didn't like the Daytona.

Having said that, I still quite like the look of the 955i Speed Triple of
the same era... just not sure I'd want the irritating reliability issues
that go hand in hand with Triumphs of that era.

    Agreed.

I've gone pillion on one of these in the past and I was well impressed with
the amount of lazy 'shove' it had.

Strange that I loved it and disliked my 9R, and Adie should be the
    exact opposite.

Once upon a time I rode a T595, and didn't like that either.

I never had any reliabilty issues in the 9K miles I did on mine.

I never had any reliability issues in the 9k miles I did on the Sprint
ST either. The other 17k miles weren;t so trouble-free, however...

  11. I got irritated by how often I ran out of revs on the Tiger. That may
have been that my previous bike was a Fireblade that revved up to 18K
    RPM..

But the Tiger had good acceleration in the bottom and middle of the
    rev-range.

I had nothing but bother with my Daytona - the usual shitty ECU related
    issues.

I worked at a Triumph dealers for a while in 2002 to 2003, and saw loads of
bikes of the same era in the workshop for seemingly never ending issues with
    the ECU mapping etc.

I've re-geared mine/yours slightly with a bigger front sprocket, which
gets rid of that thrashy feeling at 80/90.
Like Jack says, it has lazy stomp, it feels like a bigger engine when
using the torque, but it's no screaming litrebike.

If I want to go out on a screaming litrebike, I use something else.

There's many compelling reasons to have more than one bike.

.... actually, come to think of it: I'm fairly sure he bought a 9R just
    after I did.

Wonder if he's bought an Elefant yet?
