Laptop bug

Last night I noticed a tiny black mark moving across the screen of my lappy.

At first I thought it was a bug (as in insect) on the surface but it didn't
    wipe away with my thumb.

Then I remembered the viruses that used to go around years ago that did
strange things to your display, e.g. caused all the letters to drop to the
bottom. I've also seen harmless little fun programs that put a beetle or
spider on the screen that chases the cursor. So now I'm thinking "Maybe
someone has combined the two and created a virus that puts a little bug on
the screen, that crawls around randomly"

No - it's a real bug - of the insect variety that's got between the layers
of the display. It was moving around quite fast but has now stopped (died?)
about 2" up and 3" from the right of the display, doing a good impression of
3 dead pixels in a line.

I know this is going to really annoy me every time I use the machine but
there's no way I'm going to start taking a 3-month old Latitude D530 apart
to get it out, unless you guys can think of an easy way to do this[1]

I've never heard on this happening before, is it a first?

Bad form and all that but as I sit staring at the screen I realise that this
must be one of those famous "feral apostrophes" that people keep complaining
    about!

Nah, then you'd need to put a cat in, to catch the bird....

I have an old 'handbag' type iBook with the same problem.

Never did find out how to get rid of it.

Sounds like a blow job to me. Can you prise anything apart enough to get
    some compressed air in?

3 months old? It's still under warranty then, so take it back to where you
bought it and get them to sort it.

I'm fairly sure that Dell have honoured warranty claims in these
circumstances. I'll make enquiries amongst those who know.
