Lanesplitting: MCC of NSW submission

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Zebee Johnstone, Jan 20, 2006.

  1. The MCC submission is up on their site - it's been sent to the NTC too
but isn't appearing on their website.

As well as the MCC and AMC submissions downloadable, the MCC site has
links to the changes and the Regulatory Impact Statement, and info
    about the process.

You can get to it via the front page http://www.mccofnsw.org.au or
    direct at http://www.mccofnsw.org.au/a/166.html

The MCC submission includes a chunk of nice numbers showing that
increased congestion could cost the country millions :)

Feel free to take facts from the site and submissions and use them in
    your own.

Don't abuse the NTC, no one takes that kindly especially bureaucrats.
But definitely make them think they've opened up a can of nasty worms
    with teeth.

The nature of the bureaucratic animal is that it will do whatever's
least work and least likely to make its life difficult - it doesn't
want ministers asking questions or articles in the paper, or lots of
articulate annoyed active organised citizens coming for it with
    intent.

So even a 2 paragraph statement picking one of the many problems and
stating why it is a problem in your own words and implying that you
will continue to monitor and protest will add to the impression that
they really want to bother some other lot.

I didn't realise till it was pointed out, but look at the language
they use. Bicycles are "bicycles" not "pushbikes" but motorcycles are
"motorbikes". Riders have a "cult belief" that splitting isn't
dangerous. They think riders are foolish whackos all worried about
    their toys...

There was a rally in Melbourne today (of which I had no advance warning)
along the Rastern Freeway. It got some radio air time, which is the only
reason I knew it was on. Apparently the motorcyclists were just going to
occupy lane space along the freeway or something.
