Just wondered what was the general charges per hour by dealer and
independant workshops around the country (bikes and cars)?

Just had the oil and filter and coolant changed in my car and was pleasantly
pleased to note their labour rate was 25 quid an hour :)

My rates vary. If I'm working on my own vehicles, I don't charge myself
anything. When working on SWMBO's it's one blowjob/hour.

Blimey, that's good. In London, you're looking at a minimum of
£45/hour for most bike shops and a lot more than that for franchised
car dealers, especially the quality brands.

I can't afford my own hourly rate so I pay someone else to do it.
They're about 40 quid an hour.

That counts as a very cheap labour rate for a franchised dealer in
    London, believe me.

£70 an hour at Peugeot in Bridlington (which let's face it, is a bit pikey,
but it's the nearest one) IIRC.

Took the cage for MOT to be told it had a rotten bake pipe over the back
subframe and it wasn't safe to drive away. Ties only a brake pipe me thinks.
"okay do it and finnish the mot" says I only to get a bill for £220 + MOT
    charge.. Cried I did
And it was only a little back yard garage in Ewloe

I had this at a Kwak dealership. Dropped the bike off at 9.40am, got a call
just before noon to say the bike was ready. Checked the invoice and saw I
had been charged four hours labour. "That's because it's a four hour
    service", came the spannawanka's reply.

Apparently it was my fault as I had looked after the bike[1], so lots of
things that might have needed adjusting, cleaning and generally sorting. A
full and frank discussion about the linear nature of time ensued, where it
was agreed that two hours work done does not equal four hours billed, and
the owner of the garage eventually supplied braided brake hoses and fitted
them FOC by way of apology.

Ironic, as I'm sure that the moment I got off the forecourt, the manager was
shouting at the mechanic, "Next time, wait FOUR hours before calling, you
    ****."

[1] Properly warmed the engine up, not thrashed it like a **** etc[2]
[2] It was my first new bike, I got better :)
