You'll be getting either the broken one or new one strengthened,
    presumably?
Mile steel subframe? You have a pikey bike, m'lud.

Yeah, doesn't he know he should have converted it to metric years ago?

Yeah. Judicious application of tyre levers and cable ties.

It sounds like the Duke is slightly different from the Moto and Enduro
LC4. Hmm, I suppose I could go and have a look at mine, but it's cold
    outside...

    It is.

I'd hoped there were some common parts to make it easier to find a
replacement subframe, but the part diagrams and numbers showed clear
    differences.

Ah, that's a shame. New subframes for the moto/enduro are peanuts.

One step closer to having a brace of roadworthy bikes. Now to have a
chat with InMoto and see what kind of crazy money they want to do the
    tedious bit.

It wasn't too bad in the end. The replacement cost me 50 quid delivered
from ebay - one other bidder, otherwise I could have got it for peanuts.

Did the swap yesterday with a mate, it's always illuminating taking a
bike apart to see what state it's in underneath.

The exhaust's clearly been off at some point, possibly when the Y-piece
was fitted way back when, and whoever put it back on missed a bit.
There's a press-in lug on a bracket attached to the lower arm of the
subframe on each side, and each silencer bolts on to that. Except it
wasn't, so the only thing holding the silencers in place was the number
plate bracket. Cue a lot of weight and stress right at the end of the
subframe, making the break all but inevitable.

Still, a surprisingly quick job to replace. And then the fuel hose
split, now replaced temporarily with a bit that's almost the right size
until I get hold of some that's spot on. And the throttle's sticking
    open.

Oh, and there's a nail in the back tyre.

Hopefully these things only come in threes.

That would have been Brackens as they did the Y-piece.

Not just bikes. I got the new car in the garage at the weekend &
started removing bits to do the obligitory "I don't trust dealers"
cambelt change. When I eventually spannered my way into the belt, the
first thing I noticed was the balance shaft was 90 degrees out. This is
a car with a full (verified) Mitsubishi main dealer service history. So
I'll now be giving it a full service before using it, & making sure it
    never sees a dealer again.
Hang on - subframe, fuel hose, throttle & tyre. Why are you hoping you
    get two more problems?

I'll avoid Brackens and look to InMoto in Croydon for the next service
    then.

You will have no problems then as the sales shop has gone. Only the
little workshop still exists. I hadn't heard anything against Brackens
previously, so I'd say your findings are a one-off, of course someone
    may know otherwise.

    Haven't Bracken gone tits-up?

The dealer, yes. The workshop, no.

InMoto are an easy enough for me to get to/from anyway. Tram to West
Croydon, five minute walk round the corner.

    I've just moved my 12R.

    And I've checked the specs.

How come mine seems to weigh 1000kg?

At least that's what it seems to be to push.

Rusty chain? Apparently not. Manky brake discs? Again, apparently not.
What the **** else is making the fucker so hard to push?
