    Hi,

I like the look of these, but for mountain-biking (the none motorised
    pushbike sort) and general carrying.

Can they be used comfortably over a shirt / softshell, or do they
really need a leather / padded jacket to take the kinks out?

    Ta

    And I scarcely blinked.

Thanks for the feedback though - I usually only wear a T-shirt for a
very thin top layer and I'd prefer not to look like my torso's been
minced when I take my backpack off.

Off to scour ebay and update wishlists.

Sorry, I was quite quick to mail Bear as I was literally about to
order one of the backpacks this weekend anyway.

That's a bit fucking cheeky of them when you consider that you don't
see the instructions until you get home with the kit.

They were selling the US20 along with two of the smaller US10 packs
and a harness so you can use any of them as a tank bag for quite a bit
less than the total list price so I wasted my money.

I know the theory is that you can use any single, or a combination of
the three as a tailpack or a tankbag but the reality is that I just
haven't bothered. I'm not going to sell it because it's waterproof and
for that reason alone it's worth having as an available option when
I'm loading any of the bikes up.

Would I buy it again? No.

The trouble is that that's *exactly* what they sell the US packs for.
It's supposed to be a 'modular' system where you can mix and match to
get your luggage requirements bang on.

Whether it's what they're best for or not I don't know but this stuff
was purchased from the Kriega stand so it's not as if it was being
bodged together by a smart arsed rep with an eye for a quick killing.
I wouldn't add more than one to a rucksack because you'd just **** the
balance up and make it more of a burden to wear.
I think I'll end up using the smaller bags more often than the bigger
one if I can be arsed to leave them somewhere handy where I'll notice
them when I'm going away for a weekend. They're fine for keeping extra
clothing handy (and dry) so you don't have to unpack stuff if you want
to get waterproofs or thermals out but that's about it.

I'm counting it as a freebie. I was going to spend 100 quid on the
    backpack anyway.
